Meredith being a mess about meeting Derek’s mother. Sloan knowing that she would be able to read him in regards to Lexie. Meredith having sympathy for the Death Row Patient played by Eric Stolz. He makes it easy to have sympathy for him. Especially when he asks if he a match to be that little boys donor. He wanted to make good on the bad that he did. And Meredith fell for it.

Mrs Shephard ends up loving Meredith when Meredith got “real” and told Mrs Shepard that she is not a bright and cheery person, but a person who has compassion for a murderer. Gives Derek her approval by giving him the ring that she married his dad with. Derek is so cute at this point, where he gets teary and admits to his mother (with a nod of his head) that Meredith is the one.

This was a great episode for all of the cast (except maybe George who we barely saw) Mrs Shepard was onto Major Hunt. Knew he wasn’t sleeping. He goes to go on a date with Christina and is drunk because he doesn’t know how to go on a date. She tells him to take a shower and he goes into the shower with his clothes on. He tells her a heart breaking story about a man he saved and that the man then kills himself. She feels compassion and gets in the shower with him.

It is so sweet how Sloan and Callie are now friends. They deal with a patient who went to Hong Kong to get his bones lengthened and ends up having to have his bones shaved a bit to deal with the damage. Callie tells Sloan that she lost inches with every bad relationship and he tells her to walk tall. That she fought, she loved and she lost and to get out there and try again.

Lastly, I like the fact that Izzy tells Denny that she is breaking up with him. She wants to be normal. We’ll see where this takes us!
