Dempsey Racing | Hyper Sport

We all know as Patrick Dempsey fans, about his love of cars. He has most of the fun cars known to man in his garage.

A fun fact about Patrick that not many of his fans know about is that he is also a professional race car driver as well as being an actor and an all around great guy! His father liked racing, although he wasn’t a racer (that I know of) and Patrick grew up with that love as well.

A few years back his wife encouraged him to take lessons to race by buying the lessons for him as a gift. She apparently had enough of the SpeedTV channel and sent him off to learn something he loved. And it has shown to really be something he truly loves to do as well as watch.

Now Patrick is a full fledged racer and co-owns a few racing teams as well.You can tell by the images you see of him racing that this is a true passion for him and that he loves what he is doing.

The racing teams that Patrick co-owns are:  Team Hyper Sport and Vision Racing. Team Hyper Sport is now running under the name Dempsey Racing.  And just recently Patrick and partner Joe Foster raced with Don Kitch and Team Seattle at the LeMans where they came in 9th in their class and raised $258, 800 for children hospitals.

Do not worry about Patrick quitting acting anytime soon though, while he does love racing he also loves to act and has mentioned that one pays for the other. So that makes us happy too!

Hyper Sport garnered 2nd Place Team and Driver’s Championship honors with its Ford Mustang FR500-C program.  Beginning in the American Le Mans Series in a factory-backed Panoz GTLM, Hyper Sport has advanced into Grand Am sanctioned road racing and has competed both in the Rolex and Koni Challenge Series in BMW, Infiniti, Ford and Mazda products.

The Hyper Sport/Dempsey Racing team currently resides in a 10,000 square foot shop facility in Atlanta, Georgia. This state-of-the-art facility is equipped with all the engineering, fabrication and materials to build and maintain multiple road race cars. In addition to its technical capabilities, Hyper Sport can administered successful marketing partnerships during the last two years with high profile companies such as Mazda, Ford, El Grado Tequila, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, Patrick Dempsey’s Center for Cancer Hope and Healing, Ironclad, Piloti and Specialized Bicycle.
